People always talk about being overweight or obesity. You can find many tips to lose weight. Obesity is considered a health issue. But they don’t understand the struggle behind being skinny. Like obesity, being underweight also refers to health risks. People need to understand both dimensions. They thought that by eating more and more you can easily put on weight. Yeah to some extend this is right but not an easy. For them, it’s not an issue. Calling them by hurtful names is fun for them. Call fat person a fat is body shaming, but calling skinny person a skinny is not. This needs to be changed. No one has the right to mock others because of their appearance.
My name is Analia. I’m 25 years old. Before three years my weight was only 47 Kg (99 lbs). One thing I want to add is my height, which is 5.7. According to my height, I was underweight. I looked like a stick. My friends used to make fun of me. The only question I heard was “Don’t you eat anything? Why are you so lean? You look unhealthy.” Those times I hate my body. I was going to the most stressful moments of my life. But now I want to share my successful weight gain story. In the past two years, I was able to gain weight by 28 Kg (66 lbs) and now my weight is 75 Kg (165 lbs). According to my height, it is normal weight.
Actually, I was skinny from my childhood. The thing which I’m going to say may be offensive for many, but body shaming starts from your family and friends. That doesn’t mean they don’t love you. They love you so much. Although, many times they don’t realize what they are saying. My mom told me not to wear jeans because it didn’t look pretty as I had skinny legs. Once my dad’s friend with his family, came to our home. His wife said to my mom that should she didn’t give me any food. By hearing a lot of hurtful comments from family or friends intentionally, I promised myself to gain weight.
My journey was not easy but I did not lose hope. Once you are strict to something just remain strict to it. At that time I have always felt like I needed to change my body. I just wanted to be someone else in order to fit in or be loved. I remembered the times when I went shopping but I did not get the clothes I wanted. The main reason was my body. None of the dresses did not fit me. Whenever I go out with my friends I feel insured. They all had perfect bodies but mine was too skinny.
Being skinny is not a disgrace but health issues matter a lot. Like obesity causes many health issues, the same way being skinny is not good for your health. As I was underweight, I had low blood cells and all those health issues. I got sick very easily. So, in order to get rid of all the embarrassment and health issues, I started to work on my weight. At the age of 22 my weight was only 47 Kg (99 lbs) having a height of 5.7. I struggled for two years to put on weight of almost 28 Kg (66 lbs). I go through female weight gain stories. My appetite was too low. I had an eating disorder. But somehow I managed it.
The very first thing I did to gain weight was measured my calories. It was very helpful to understand how to gain weight. There are many apps that you can use for tracking your calories. My appetite was too low, so I started by consuming 200-400 calories. It will help you for steady weight gain. If you want to gain weight quickly then it should be around 1000 calories per day. For me, it’s too much. So, instead of quickly gaining weight, I choose to work on it slowly.
I started to eat on time. Even if I was not hungry I made it my habit to eat on time. I make sure not to skip my breakfast. A very important step for weight gain is eating a heavy breakfast. More you eat, the more weight you gain. It’s my experience. Maybe this will not work for all but still a good initiating step. Every male or female has his/her own body type. When you eat more it will expand your stomach. The more space you have, the more you will eat. At first, this was very difficult for me. I felt like vomiting. As I had less appetite I gradually increased my intake. In between meals I also took my snacks on a daily basis. Make sure whatever you intake should be rich in proteins, harmless fats, and carbohydrates. The best food I can suggest to you is milk, eggs, meat, and green vegetables. Also, don’t forget to add banana milkshakes to your diet. Let’s come back to my journey. Since I had already mentioned that one should eat more but you should avoid eating the wrong foods. During my weight gain journey, I literally stopped drinking alcohol. Eating a lot doesn’t mean to eat unhealthy. Make your diet healthy.
Following my first step, I suggest that you don’t eat junk food. Just try to avoid it. I remembered I irregularly eat any food. For me eating food was the only step for gaining weight. I ate packets of chips daily. Drink alcohol and all those unhealthy drinks. You know what? It never helps me to gain weight. I repeated it again. That’s all from my experience. You may have something different. As I am telling a female weight gain story, I would like to add that you should not be in a hurry. Everything takes time. Be patient and let the process move gradually. Before my commitment to weight gain, I had irregular eating patterns. It was very difficult for me to handle all of these. The one thing I did was not to lose hope and be strict about it.
I went to gym. Here my trainer helped me a lot. She said to me, she had same problem in her teenage years. The females there mocked me. They used to say that “You should go home girl. This place is not for you. You should sit at home and eat”. I ignored them. I started with small weight lift up. This workout made my muscles.
All the efforts I put in were successful because I changed my lifestyle. I sleep early and wake up early in the morning. You must take proper sleep for better results. I did regular exercise. It gave me fitness and more strength. In addition, don’t be stressful. After one year my weight increased by 33 kg (72 lbs). I looked better and healthy. My self-esteem increased. And finally, after two years I put on total 66 kg (165 lbs).
This was my weight gain story. You may go through many female weight gain stories but mine was a bit different. I struggled a lot. At last, I also got my reward. Now I’m healthy and fit. Hope you like my story and learn from it.
